About Us

Delicious plant based/vegetarian food, guided by the seasons, locally and responsibly sourced, prepared with love in a homely and thoughtful kitchen, paired with natural wines, home ferments and craft brews to be enjoyed in a convivial family atmosphere.

Originally from Georgia & Sweden, we met while working at the Zetter Restaurant in 2006 and we’ve been a couple ever since.

We created Helma (named after our kids, Henry + Alma) to combine the best of our background, passion and talents, to build on our rich experience in some of the great restaurants of London - from Vinoteca to Dock Kitchen, Quality Chop House to Sardine, Fifteen to St John.

After calling East London home for more than a decade, we chose our location to play a part in serving this vibrant community - whether coffee and cake, soups and bowls, salads and specials, breakfast plates, bread and bottles to go. 

We treat our guests as friends and family. Our desire is for an atmosphere of contentment and wellbeing through the combination of love for real food and desire to feed our families well, passion for convivial hospitality and the pleasure of gathering.
